Cheaper than left-luggage storage

Bag in Locker storage unit

Our Camden storage centre is a taxi, car or bus ride away from Euston Railway Station and can often work out much cheaper alternative than any on-site left-luggage services that may be available.

For example*: If you’re a family with 4 bags to store for 5 days - the typical cost of leaving luggage at major London transport hubs can be as much as £8 per bag per day - and five days could easily cost well over £100.

ABC Selfstore lockers - which will take all 4 bags and more - start at less than £2 a day. That could save you £100 on that 5 day stay with 4 bags! If you have more bags or are staying longer then the savings could be even greater.

About Euston Railway Station

One of the busiest rail terminals in London, Euston Station is located in the centre of the capital, and is also a major route in and out of the city for people coming from the North. It has connections to the North West and West Midlands, as well as North Wales, and also serves sleeper trains to Edinburgh. It is also a major connection between overground trains and London's Underground (Tube) service, having close links to Euston Square and Kings Cross as well as having its own tube station.

Euston Station was built in 1837, being the first cross-country station to be built in London. Although its early years were very small, with only two platforms, it was designed by famous architects and also included the well-known Euston Arch which was unfortunately demolished. The station was originally designed to have transport leading to the area around King's Cross, but this was abandoned after public protests and opposition by local landowners. Instead, Robert Stephenson , son of George, created a pathway through Harrow, Watford and Tring before carrying on to more distant cities such as Northampton, Bedford and Birmingham. In fact, this early station was built further away from Euston Road, being close to Drummond Street. The original entrance, the Arch, was serviced by a small street called Euston Grove.

Another complication of the location at Euston was the London and Birmingham Railway's Act, which banned locomotives from operating in the Euston area - apparently because a nobleman owned property near to the line and was concerned that noise would lower land values. The solution was to use a series of cables to move the trains in and out of the Camden area, until 1844 when the previous Act was abandoned.

After this limitation had been removed, Euston Station grew very quickly, expanding rapidly and undergoing several phases of construction. By 1850 a large Great Hall had been built with stairs allowing access to a second floor level. This enormous, and dazzling building could not make up for the fact that the area was too small to allow large numbers of trains to service the area, and in 1960 the old building was demolished, and a rather square 'modern' station was built in its place, described as one of the most serious acts of 'post-war Architectural vandalism' in the country. The modern station, with its functional design, is often compared unfavourably with the Victorian buildings still used by other London stations.
