Cheaper than left-luggage storage

Bag in Locker storage unit

A car, bus, or taxi ride from Kings Cross Railway Station to our Camden store is all that separates you from cheap locker storage for your luggage.

You can save a lot of money - for example*: a family with 4 bags requiring 5 days storage at major London transport hub could well pay something like £8 per bag per day for left luggage. That would work out at well over £100.

A luggage locker at ABC Selfstore costs from around £2 a day and will take all 4 bags - and more for that one low price. A potential saving of £100 or more in just 5 days! The longer you stay the more you'll save.

About Kings Cross Railway Station

King's Cross Station is one of the most important inter-city London terminals, linking London with cities such as Edinburgh, Newcastle and Leeds, as well as travelling into the East Anglian counties of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. These connections provide it with a constant stream of traffic which make it one of the busiest stations in the country. It is also widely used because of its links to St Pancras, the international station which has links to Europe via the Eurostar, and shares an underground station with the latter terminal.

Originally built in 1852, it was named King's Cross after a monument dedicated to George IV which had been recently demolished. Intended to link the Great Northern Railway with London transport systems, it was designed by George Turnbull and Lewis Cubitt. The site had originally been a fever and epidemics hospital, and that and the ground around the hospital were demolished to make way for the first parts of the station. The original platforms were restricted to departure and arrival bays, but this later expanded, until there are now more than 11 platforms currently operating in the station, not including the mythical 9 3/4 platform which is mentioned in the Harry Potter novels by JK Rowling.

One of the most significant events in the history of the station happened on the 18th of November 1987: the King's Cross Fire which occurred in the tube station below the overground building. This fire was caused by dirt and debris under wooden escalators being ignited by a discarded cigarette or match. The force of the fire engulfed the station, and also affected the above ground station through smoke and fire. Although smoking had been banned in the tube area, many people lit cigarettes as they journeyed up to ground level, and this is why both the tube and the overground station were affected, the latter was particularly important in the role it played in sheltering survivors of the blaze.

This is not the only negative incident which King's Cross station is known for, since in 1973 an IRA bomb was detonated in the hall of the station. It caused a large amount of damage and injured a number of people. Although the bomber was seen to throw the bomb into the station, he ran into the fleeing crowd and was never traced. No-one was killed in the bombing, but several people were seriously hurt by the explosion.
