It was a Summer to remember with record temperatures but our team completed the London Bridges Walk which covers a route of approximately 7 miles, and takes you over some of London's most famous bridges all in aid of Kidney Research UK.
Kidney Research UK is the largest funder dedicated to research into the causes and prevention of kidney disease and they have been going since 1961. The money they raise goes directly into research to find better treatments and ultimately a cure to help over three million people in the UK at risk of chronic kidney disease.
Kidney Research UK depends on the support of the general public to fund our lifesaving research; they receive almost no Government funding. It’s therefore important that any funds raised are spent in the most effective way to ensure that they can continue to fund research projects and cover their costs.
They allocate about 80% of our charitable expenditure to research and 20% to providing health information and raising awareness of kidney disease.
Every year Kidney Research UK aim to invest at least a further £4million and start around 40 new research projects, on top of their ongoing commitment to the numerous research projects already in progress. Most projects last two to three years and they are constantly striving to increase the amount of research they fund, as they can only support one out of every five proposals put to us.
