Recycling

Everything that can be recycled at ABC Selfstore gets recycled so that we stay environmentally friendly at all three of our stores and Head Office.

Ink Cartridges

We are not quite paperless at ABC and some of our documents have to be in a tangible form so we use ink but to lower our carbon footprint all the cartridges get recycled.

Every year more than 1.1 billion inkjet cartridges are used around the world, over 65 million of these are sold in the UK alone and if you were to stack these cartridges end-to-end they would be 129 times longer than the Great Wall of China.

It’s estimated that on average 15% of the UK bought cartridges are recycled or reused each year which includes those from ABC Selfstore branches. We want to help eradicate ink cartridges going into landfill as the plastic that is contained in the casing or each one can take up to 1000 years to decompose - one (thousand) very good reason to recycle them.

Working with expert scientists Against Breast Cancer want to increase the survival rates of all breast cancer patients and ultimately, discover a vaccine against breast cancer. Find out how you can get involved.

How do we recycle our cartridges?

We send all our used ink cartridges off to the lovely people at CES Europe who are part of the world’s largest inkjet and laser printer cartridges recycling company, Clover Technologies. The great part of this process is that the funds raised go towards helping the charity Against Breast Cancer.
