About Highgate

An affluent area of suburban North London, Highgate stands 4.5 miles north-west of Charing Cross and is a short walk from the north-eastern corner of Hampstead Heath.

Highgate is officially London's highest point. What's more, the steep road that links Archway to Highgate Village is named Highgate Hill and was the route of the first ever cable car to be built in Europe. The cable car operated between 1884 and 1909 and although it no longer exists, but remains a very poignant part in London's history nonetheless.

Highgate has its own underground station which is a short walk from the village, located off the Archway Road. This station is based on the High Barnet branch of the Northern Line.

According to TFL, the official journey time from Highgate Tottenham Court Road takes around 16 minutes, making the area incredibly accessible to the heart of the West End.

Highgate station is also boasts the 134 and 43 bus routes, one of which terminates at Tottenham Court Road and the other terminating at London Bridge.
