An affluent area of suburban North London, Highgate stands 4.5 miles north-west of Charing Cross and is a short walk from the north-eastern corner of Hampstead Heath.
Highgate is officially London's highest point. What's more, the steep road that links Archway to Highgate Village is named Highgate Hill and was the route of the first ever cable car to be built in Europe.
