Priya, our Camden store manager would store “…a fun fair – carousel, big wheel and candy floss stalls!” We think that would probably take up the whole ground floor of our Camden branch (plus a good proportion of York Way when you set it up to play with) – but it’s another brilliant idea. What could be better to kick the winter blues into touch than a ride on the Carousel, followed by a stick of Candy floss. In fact, let’s throw in a Chestnut roasting stall for good measure, just the job in the cold and snowy weather.
But which carousel to go for? Fastest? Biggest? Oldest? Greenest (there’s a solar powered one in Hopland, California)? We think the most fun would be “Over the jumps: The Arkansas Carousel” which rides in a waving motion.
And then there’s that big wheel – or Ferris Wheel to give it the proper name. Of course – the London Eye is just down the road, but knowing our Camden lot they’ll be up for something a bit more exhilarating. So how about what’s known as the Rock-o-Plane or the Egg , or sometimes the American Rider? It’s no ordinary big wheel – the egg-shaped cars spin round as the big wheel turns – the result being you spend some of the time upside-down. Just make sure your loose change is in a zipped pocket. Oh, and better not have your candy-floss before riding this one.
