Boxing Day is one of those festive traditions shrouded in mystery. The most popular theory for the origin of the name is that the day after Christmas Day was one where tradesmen would receive a `Christmas Box’ as a thank you for good service during the year.
However some modern households across London would say that Boxing Day now literally means that parts of their flats and houses are cluttered up boxes following the big day of gift-giving. Often you don’t want to throw the box away, as a gadget or toy might need to be returned. Whatever the reason, your living room can easily resemble a branch of Toys R Us just after a fresh delivery of stock!
The other problem with people receiving lovely Xmas gifts is that suddenly the existing TV/Xbox/electric guitar etc is a bit redundant. But where to put it, assuming you don’t feel like parting with your stuff by selling it?
Well, may we suggest a compact and friendly little storage unit? OK, we are biased maybe, but freeing up some much needed living space just after Christmas can be one of the most therapeutic things you can do. Trouble is, de-cluttering can mean throwing away much-loved, or perfectly good items.
So if your wardrobe now has some wonderfully cool new coats, slinky slacks or shiny party shoes, then you could box up your much loved older clothes and stash them away safely in one of our storage facilities. You’ll find them in Wandsworth, Camden and Southwark, with our helpful staff ready to offer advice on packing, great deals, pick-up by van and a whole lot more.
Merry Christmas to all from ABC Selfstore and have a spacious 2012.
