As we approach Valentine’s Day, we thought we should take a closer look at how much there is in common between the right home and the right partner.  In fact, the right home could be more important as it’s where you are likely to spend most of your time, it’s also likely to be one of your biggest investments and a place where you need to feel happy, safe and secure.

Fall in love with your home this Valentine's Day

So what are the most important features to look for?  Just like when looking for a partner, some may be attracted by looks, while others rate security as more important.  Surprisingly, it seems to be the same with homes, here we outline some of the similarities:

Good looks

A person’s looks and personality are what initially attract people and, like clothes, people use their home as a way of portraying their personality.  But just like people, it’s important that your home is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside – some would even argue that it’s more important.  So take a look around you home, is it cluttered or messy?  What does it say about you?  Does it use its best assets well or does it need a bit of refreshing and clearing out to create more usable space?

A lovely outlook

They say there are some things you can’t change in a person such as a personality.  In a home the things you can’t change tend to be the outlook or views from the windows.  Some of the most popular views are where people can see far into the distance, look at water features or famous buildings or landmarks.  But a view can often be spoiled by a distraction in the room.  If you have something worth looking at, don’t let an untidy pile of toys or a rail of vintage clothes distract the eye from something far more appealing.  (Remember, if you need a place to clear your stuff away to, just give us a call as we have flexible and affordable self storage space in Southwark, Camden and Wandsworth!)

Feeling secure

In a relationship people like to feel safe and secure.  So too in a home.  People like to be able to retreat to their homes after a busy day or when needing to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Safety and security may not be the most exciting topic but it’s one of those things you have to consider when looking for a home as it’s where you want to feel safe and to keep your important belongings.  We can however help in part as anything you leave with us will be closely watched over with the latest CCTV cameras, secure units and 24 hour support if needed?  It is also likely to be even better protected than in a cold attic or a damp garage.

Friends and neighbours

When you meet someone special in your life it’s important to be able to get on with their friends.  The same is true with the neighbours of a new home.  If you are planning on inviting people around to your home for a party, drinks or some food, remember that your home is an extension of your life and just like a first date it’s important to create a great first impression.

So this Valentine’s Day, contact us if you need flexible, affordable and secure self storage units as it may help you rediscover the important partner in your life – your home!  If nothing else we can help you clear the decks, so you can celebrate in style or have a quiet night in with that special person.
