Today is New Year’s eve and like many people throughout the world some of our staff at ABC have made New Year’s resolutions.
This ancient tradition of improving certain aspects of your life starting on New Year’s day dates back to the 23rd century BC when the Babylonians promised their gods that they would pay their debts and return borrowed items.
In 2013, it is estimated that over 70% of us will we make New Year’s resolutions and that only 8% of those made will be kept, with many being broken within the first week of 2014 and most completely abandoned by the end of January.
10 Popular goals include:
- Lose weight and get fit
- Improve career
- Improve wellbeing and think positive
- Delete Facebook
- Spend more time with family & friends
- Learn a new skill
- Be more organised
- Save money/reduce bills
