Busy Bank Holiday?

Whilst many were hiding chocolate eggs or dressing up as the Easter Bunny for little ones, others choose to be a little more productive with their time off spending time dusting off the paint brushes, fixing the wonky shelves or tackling the garden for the summer ahead.

Our self storage units in Wandsworth, Camden and Southwark were all busy as people made their preparations for summer, as they pulled out their BBQs, deck chairs and gardening equipment replacing them with their winter woollies and extra thick duvets.

But as summer is only around the corner we thought we would share some advice on making your garden magical for what we hope is a fabulous summer ahead.

1. Love your lawn

Gardening can be fun but also a little time consuming so it’s important to stay on top of things. It’s best to ensure the lawn is freshly trimmed, neat and tidy as it will give you a great outdoors space and bring a fresh and tidy look to your home. If you’ve no space for your mower, we would always be happy to look after it in one of our flexible and affordable self storage units.

2. Create a first impression

With your beautiful lawn, don’t clutter it with children’s toys, gardening tools and mismatch garden furniture. Create a great first impression and for an added wow factor, add a statement gate to impress your guests.

3. Be the host with the most

Garden furniture is perfect for spending sunny days with friends and family outside in the comfort of your own home. A patio or decking area is great for BBQs and will also improve the functionality of your garden so you can use it all year round for entertaining or just relaxing. However, when winter comes again, be sure to store away the items as it will help protect it properly from the weather.

4. Be Bold

Greenery is great but endless green bushes can be a little bland. Instead, plant bold and vibrant colours as these will make your garden look striking and stand out. Water features also ooze style and sophistication. Anything from a pond to a waterfall will enhance your garden and attract new wildlife.

5. Think vertically

Use trellising and hanging baskets to cover your walls and fences, gardening doesn’t have to be just about the ground. It will also add height to your garden creating an all-round effect. When the season has passed we’d happily look after you pots and plants that may need to be moved indoors?

6. Let there be light

Lighting in any form can improve your garden immeasurably as lights can make your garden useful 24/7. It is totally up to you what scale you’d like this to happen on and it can be anything from spotlights to tranquil tea lights and everything in between.

Creating a beautiful garden can be fun, rewarding and adds additional living space to a home. If you need somewhere to keep all your gardening gear or a place to keep the fabulous summer furniture for when the sun isn’t shining, we have fantastic and flexible self storage facilities across London in Wandsworth, Camden and Southwark. We’re also open most bank holidays so if you’re in for a busy bank holiday we are here to help.
