As the New Year begins many people’s thoughts turn towards how they can make this year a special, memorable one. Apart from booking the annual holiday or planning day trips with the family, bucket lists are often created to help plan new and exciting adventures to break away from the 9-5 grind.
Creating a bucket list is really easy, simply start by making a list of everything you have ever wanted to try and accomplish. Once you have your first draft, seriously think if your experiences are achievable, after all, there is no point planning a trip to New Zealand if you’re scared of flying. Finally, make sure everything on your list is exciting, adventurous and most importantly personal to you, as this will make it almost impossible to put your bucket list on the backburner.
If you’re not sure what to include on your bucket list, we’ve taken five of the most popular adventures and experiences to give you inspiration.
Travelling the world. Even if it’s just one country travelling can open up your mind to new experiences, which is why it is so highly ranked on the majority of bucket lists. Whether your dream is to experience an African Safari, see the Northern Lights or watch the sunset over the New York City skyline, travelling can provide adventure and allow you to view the world from another perspective. Plus, it can expand your knowledge of many different cuisines, art and culture!
If you’re planning on visiting a different part of the world, why not brush up on your linguistic skills and learn a new language? It’s never an easy goal to accomplish but that’s what makes it so rewarding. Even if you’re not planning on leaving the UK it can be such a fun experience to share with friends and who knows where you will use your new skill one day?
Some people may find the thought of sky diving absolutely crazy, but that may be why it is on so many people’s bucket list. However, it’s not something for the faint hearted, jumping out of a plane hundreds of feet above the ground may sound like a great idea whilst your feet are firmly on solid ground, but once you’re up there it’s not an easy challenge taking the plunge. However, if you want to see the world from a different perspective, sky diving may be the one for you!
4.Top Of The World
Many people see their bucket list as a set of challenges in which they will be rewarded with a sense of achievement, so what is more rewarding than climbing Kilimanjaro? One of the thrills of taking on this challenge is the difference in climate from start to finish as it is said to be one of the toughest challenges any human can endure. Climbing Kilimanjaro has proven to be very popular as you don’t need any previous mountain experience and many charities offer fundraising opportunities.
5.Deep Blue Sea
Did you know that 71% of the Earth’s surface is actually ocean? Swimming with sharks in places such as the Bahamas and Australia can give anyone the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the deadliest creatures on the planet, and who could forget an experience like that?
Whatever is on your bucket list, we’re sure it will be an exciting and exhilarating feeling to tick off the achievements from you list. Hopefully at the end of 2016 you will be looking back on a year full of amazing personal achievements and new plans to continue living a fuller and more satisfying life in 2017.
