It’s the third instalment of our look at what’s happening close to our self storage locations over the Easter Holidays. Which means it’s the turn of Camden to get some useful ABC Selfstore scrutiny as to what’s on for families over the Easter holiday break. We’ve done the legwork to find the best that’s on offer around the borough and bring you a nice mix of activities and events that are great for all the family.
So, if you’re not sure what you were going to do with the kids during the Easter Holidays our pointers will hopefully provide you with a little inspiration…
Land of the Lions at ZSL London Zoo
Lions are one of earth’s most charismatic species and sadly it was Zimbabwean male called Cecil that brought these majestic creatures back into the public consciousness over recent weeks. It seems timely then that the band new permanent exhibit – Land of the Lions at ZSL London Zoo in Regents Park – opens on Friday 25th March – just in time for the Easter break. They’ve put together a rather nice video to promote it too, so rather than us tell you about the replica railway station and crumbling ruin of Lion’s temple, we’ll let the experts show you what to expect:
The exhibit is included in the standard admission price: Adult’s £24.50, Child £17.60. Seniors/students £21.80.
A Family Trail for the Well Read
If you and your little ones are fans of literature then the British Library in Bloomsbury have created something that will quench your thirst for written words as well as get you exploring the library. Packed with fun facts, exploration exploration games and drawing activities. It’s a journey of discovery , which they say will uncover a 6ft tall atlas, a library built by a king and an optical illusion made of books.
The best bit is that the family trails are Free of Charge – find out all about it on the British Library website.
A Watery Day Out
If messing about on the river appeals to you, then you’ll have to make a small compromise with this one – it’s a canal. The London Canal Museum in King’s Cross (not far from our York Way store) will be hosting their Watery Wednesday on 6th April with two sessions at 1030 & 1330. For the bargain price of £4 you’ll be able to have a go at some craft activities, take a ride on boat, get your face painted and look for birds.
In addition you’l be able to visit London Canal Museum and see inside a narrowboat cabin, learn about the history of canals and what they were used to transport as well as the characters that lived and worked on them.
Find out more and how to book at the Canal Museum website.
Kids love cartoons, and there’s so much animation around in entertainment these days that they might take it all for granted. That’s where the Easter Cartoon Workshop comes in. The Cartoon Museum in Russell Street, Bloomsbury, is running a series of Easter workshops with a range of different themes. You can get full information on what’s on for each day from the Cartoon Museum website. Age ranges, timings and activities vary for each workshop, which is reflected in the price.
Mad Science Camp
Science is intriguing, fun and can spark a child’s imagination. So the Mad Science Camp offered by Gospel Oak Primary School might be the perfect way to keep your little ones occupied. Running all week from 29th March to 1st April and open to children from 4 – 11years, it’s a practical interactive camp that promises to be both fun and informative.
With a different scientific theme each day, places can be booked for the while week, or by individual day – for £170 and £36 respectively.
Find out all you need to know over on the Mad Science East of England website.
Whatever you get up to on your Easter break in Camden we hope you have a terrific time.
