Lewisham lies in South-East London and if you’re ever saaaaf of the river, you should certainly pay it a visit.
Not many people know this, but Lewisham is actually home to a new, ancient stone circle made up of three million-year- old boulders. Why’s it new then, you say? Well, because it was installed in Lewisham to mark the millennium.
In essence, Lewisham is a great place to explore, and if you’re looking for a day out with a chilled out vibe, you’ll have a fine old time here.
Not sure what to do in Lewisham? No worries, we’ll tell you right now… Manor House Gardens boasting almost four hectares of luscious green space, Manor House Gardens is a pretty special place during all four seasons. There are plenty of flower-clad walking routes, picnic areas, sports facilities, a lake, a fountain, an ice-house, a cafeteria, a kid’s playground and even a dog exercise zone (if you have your canine friend with you).
Ever heard of Street Feast? Well, it’s pretty pleasant for the eyes as well as the belly – and now, the guys from this tasty project have taken it to Lewisham. Head to the abandoned 1950s covered market and prepare to feast. Tuck food from the likes of Breddos Tacos, Yum Bun and SmokeStak, as well as boozy treats like niche craft beers and alcoholic slush puppies – the choice is yours. Fill your boots!
If you’re on the hunt for something different, whether it be a rare trinket or a cool as hell piece of homeware, you’ll find it in Cissy Wears. Step into two two floors of shopping heaven and marvel at some of the best domestic masterpieces that London has to offer. There’s a section for little kids and grownups (big kids), each filled with a host of furniture, frames, books, makeup, kitchen gadgets, tools, toys, garden ware and weird miscellaneous items. You could spend hours in here browsing the shelves, but beware; you might be tempted to walk out with the entire shop.
After all that shopping, eating and park larking, we sure you’ll be ready for a jar or two. Sporting a real community vibe and the facade of sitting in someone’s plush lounge, Jam Circus is a place packed with heart and soul. There’s always top notch music coming out of the pub’s speakers, the list of cocktails and real ales is immense, the food is hearty and the atmosphere’s electric.
