Whether you’re moving home, you’re thinking about giving your current place a much needed makeover or you’re one of the those people that cannot stand to be off trend, we have a few home decor tips for 2017, and beyond.

Not all of these ideas have to bust the bank or sap all of your precious time. Also, you can take these suggestions and modify them to add your own spin.

Anyway, we’re waffling. Without further ado, here’s our quick fire guide to home decor trends for 2017…

Tropical leaf prints

If you live in the big city, the facade of a green leafy indoor space doesn’t go amiss sometimes, so it’s a good job that tropical leaf prints are in this year. Palm and Swiss cheese plant wallpaper prints are really in at the moment (darling) and they will help you convert your home into an oasis of calm.

Unpainted and untreated walls

Now, we’re not talking about throwing coffee and wine at your living room walls them leaving them to rot; we’re talking about that cool Manhattan studio look you see in the movies, or in Shoreditch. Exposed brick walls or plastered walls sporting a weathered look (professionally finished) are all the rage at the moment, and they look great.

Vintage feels

Vintage covers a broad spectrum, and at the moment, it’s hotter than ever. Think 1960s Danish furniture, egg chairs, garish lamp shades and geometric wallpaper patterns. If you’re stuck for ideas, watch Austin Powers for a little bit of interior inspiration – yeah baby, yeah!

Maps and travel

Maps and globes are mesmerising – they do document every nook and cranny of the world after all. This year, colossal map prints are bang on trend and you can achieve this voyager look with painted murals, map themed wall paper prints, messages in bottles, navigator lamps, and framed map pictures.

Mandala prints

A spiritual and ritual symbol in Hindu and Buddhist cultures, the Mandala symbol is to become super popular this year in the world of decorative home design, with prints on candles, rugs and throws being the most striking addition to any lounge, bedroom, kitchen or hallway.

Twigs

You know that age old saying: sticks and stones may break my bones, but they also look great in a kitchen window. It was something like that anyway. Branches and twigs in chic vases or pots make a welcome addition to any contemporary home – opt for long and winding twigs and for an extra special touch, paint the tips a range of floral colours – Bellissimo!

We hope our ABC guide to trendy home decor has given you the inspiration you need to spruce up your place and if you need somewhere to store your stuff while you move or renovate, we have three great London self-storage locations.
