How We Looked Online: 2013 – 2015

The explosion of smartphone and tablet sales through the late noughties and into the teenies saw the world wide web being accessed across an unprecedented variety of screen sizes. In the early days, it was all pinching and scrolling to view the content. As more consumers adopted the technologies web-developers realised they needed a way of designing web-pages to fit the new devices.

Responsive technology was the development of the HTML, CSS and Javascript web codes that allow a the page being viewed to adapt the content for the screen it is being viewed on. The phrase Responsive was first coined in 2010, just two years later our site launched – the year after was deemed ‘The year of Responsive Web Design’ by Mashable – another example of how ABC Selfstore was leading our industry and on the pulse of the latest technology.
